Today I joined the Recognition Day at UPOU's Faculty of Information and Communication Studies in honor of the graduating class of 2012. Well I was really excited to see the faces of those students I've taught whom I really never got the chance to meet in person. Heck, that's the problem with ODeL (Open and Distance eLearning). You get to miss the F2F discussions.
More than twenty of them (picture below) are graduating with an MDC (Master of Development Communication). I met only 8 graduating from the MIS (Master of Information System). They were 80 when they started with me. That's how tough their course is.
They asked me to give an impromptu pep talk to them so I summed it all up in two words: "Crossroad or Consolidation?" What lies ahead of us after graduation would be either a crossroad of choosing a career option higher than what they have now or consolidating and strengthening the job they are now in.
