B Sides Vancouver - IT Security Conference

Today I attended the B Sides Vancouver 2014 at the Chateau Granville. Upon registration (pre-registered free via kickstarter) I received the conference kit with an avante-garde laser-cut participant ID. B Sides Vancouver is the second annual conference sponsored by The Mainland Advanced Research Society. It is an IT Security Conference featuring very experienced and renowned speakers from Mozilla, Sophos, and other IT Industries.

I thought I would only attend the morning talks but the security presentations were very interesting so I eagerly stayed on for the afternoon talks. Plus this was my only chance to update in hardcore IT security topics  after a long time.

The breakfast, lunch, and snacks were very good (and more they were free; shouln't have stopped over Tim Horton's on my way)! I really wanted to attend the "Build and Fly a Quadcopter" workshop but there were only 12 slots; plus it's expensive and couldn't afford the kit at the moment. I'll just find a cheaper drone online and dismantle it.  Interestingly for the whole conference there were only 200 slots so those who came in late or didn't pre-register missed it.
Had to go back to OLGC before my 7pm talk to the CWL. Wouldn't have made it if it weren't my day-off. What a pity I wouldn't be able to attend the second day of the conference.... religious duties tomorrow (attending the deanery meeting, mass, office stuff).
